Welcome to another in my continuing series entitled Everyday Tips To Lose Weight. Here are today's tips and tricks: 1. Set scheduled times to have meals and stick to it. You can stretch these times by half an hour, but anything more than that is going to affect your eating pattern. The result will either be a loss of appetite or that famished feeling which will make you stuff yourself the next time you eat. This of course will defeat your efforts to lose weight. 2. Eat only when you are hungry. Don't use food as an excuse to fill time or to comfort yourself. Some of us have the tendency to eat whenever we see food. We use parties as an excuse to stuff ourselves. Understand that the effect of a whole week of dieting can be wasted by just one day’s party food. Whenever you are offered something to eat do not decline it completely, but just take off a nibble so that you appear to be polite and at the same time can watch your diet. 3. Stop snacking between meals! This is especially true if you have to travel a lot. When traveling, you may feel that the only time you can get a bite to eat is snacks and junk food. The main problem with most snacks and junk food is that they are usually less filling and contain a lot of fat and calories. Just think about French fries - tempting but terribly fattening. Remember your goal: lose weight! 4. If you must snack, snack on vegetables. You might get hunger pangs in between meals, but it is something that you can control. Even better, try munching on carrots. They are an excellent way to satisfy those hunger pangs and are good for your eyes and teeth. 5. Go easy on tea and coffee. Tea and coffee are harmless by themselves. It’s when you add the cream and sugar that they become fattening. Did you know that having a cup of tea or coffee that has cream and at least two cubes of sugar is as bad as having a big piece of rich chocolate cake? 6. Try to stick to black tea or coffee. Black tea or coffee can actually be good for you. Personally, I recommend tea rather than coffee. The caffeine in the coffee is not really good for you because it is an alkaloid and can affect other functions of your body like you metabolism. The system will ensure that everyone knows what they need to know to do their job effectively. How do you think companies like McDonald's are able to manage thousands of restaurants across the planet? McDonald's Head Office doesn't sell hamburgers. They sell franchises, and their customers are the franchisees. The most valuable asset they have is their system. It regulates what employees wear, the words they say to customers, how many seconds a patty is left on the grill. Every contingency is dictated by the system. The system makes it possible for new employees to fit in. They are educated on 'how we do things around here'. They are taught the specifics of their job. They may be required to sign a performance agreement. In a well-designed system, there is still space for individual creativity. Better ways of doing things should always be sought out and encouraged - and written into the system for the future. The system provides the framework for ensuring that the business is never entirely dependent on any one person. If you own the business, your future depends on the quality of your system. But you say that your business does not have employees? Well, this principle applies to us sole home business owners as well. We need to develop systems and processes to handle all the various tasks and to take action when the unexpected arises. And we need to put systems in place that will allow us to eventually walk away from the business and let it run on autopilot. Here are some more tips to help you with your program: 1. Include foods in your diet that contain more water, such as tomatoes and watermelons. These foods contain 90 to 95 % water, so that there is nothing that you have to lose by feasting on them. They fill you up without adding to the calorie count. Cut the calories and you lose weight! 2. Stay away from sweetened bottle drinks, especially sodas. All those colas and fizzy drinks are sweetened with sugar, and sugar means calories. The more you can cut out on these sweetened bottle drinks, the better for you. So if you must drink sodas, then stick to diet sodas. Even better: just drink more water! 3. Eat fresh fruit instead of drinking fruit juice. Juice is often sweetened with sugar, but fresh fruits have natural sugars. When you eat fruit, you are taking in a lot of fiber, which is needed by your body, and fruits of course are an excellent source of vitamins. 4. If you do have a craving for fruit juice then go for fresh fruit juice instead of those that contain artificial flavors and colors. Or even better, try making your own fruit juice. Take care not to sweeten it with too much sugar! Instead of artificial sweeteners, try Stevia. 5. Choose fresh fruit rather than processed fruits. Processed and canned fruits do not have as much fiber as fresh fruit and processed and canned fruits are nearly always sweetened. 6. Increase your fiber intake. Your body needs a lot of fiber. Try to include in your diet as many fruits and vegetables as you can. 7. Go crazy on vegetables. Vegetables are your best bet when it comes to losing pounds. Nature has a terrific spread when it comes to choosing vegetables. And the leafy green vegetables are your best bet. Try to include at least one salad in your diet daily. 8. Eat intelligently. The difference between man and beast is that we are driven by intelligence while beasts are driven by instinct. don't just eat something because you feel like eating it. Ask yourself whether your body really needs it. 9. Watch what you eat. Keep a watchful eye on everything that goes in. Sometimes the garnishes and accompaniments can be richer than the food itself. Remember that it is the easiest thing in the world to eat something without realizing that it was something that you should not have eaten! Discipline yourself and you will lose weight. 10. Control that sweet tooth. Remember that sweet things generally mean more calories. It is natural that we have cravings for sweet things, especially chocolates and other confectionary. That's why it is better to move forward gradually rather than leaping two to three steps forward and finding yourself five steps back after a few weeks. One great tip to reduce your food intake is to stop eating when you're already full. Avoid eating when you're emotionally unstable. This happens a lot, especially in teens with constant body changes. When people eat because they are bored, lonely, or stressed, they tend to continue eating despite the fact that they are already full. Your products will be seen in more than one place, giving you greater exposure. Plus, the overhead of displaying your products in an online shopping cart is FAR less then in a conventional store.
You do not want to clutter your physical store with posters that talk about the history of your business, your mission, policies, etc. If your physical store looks cluttered, then it will hurt your business. A website can be organized in a neat manner with all the information you wish to have displayed. Plus, providing information about your business will make the customer feel more informed, which in turn will make them more likely to do business with you.
A website is globally accessible, provided your domain name is known or searchable. Can you name one of form of advertising that is available to anyone in the world, 24 hours a day? You may gain clientele that you would not normally be able to market to in the "real world."
Sure, initially it will cost you some money and time to create and setup your website, but once your website is up, it will remain up as long as you keep paying for hosting and your domain name, which averages about 6 dollars a month. You cannot place an ad in the local newspaper for 6 dollars a week, much less 6 dollars a month.
Clients will be able to view your store and contact you 24 hours a day. Your business probably has set hours in which you are open. Once you close your doors for the day, no other customer can come in and make a purchase. With a website your products are available for purchase 24 hours a day.
Again, this goes back to the information situation. If a client has a problem or question about your products or services, instead of tying up your phone line and time, they can go online and read the information that you have provided, or at least direct them to a website that can help them. For example: If you sold them a Sony Walkman, you can direct them to the Sony website for any troubleshooting.
Chances are, your competition has a website. The amount of businesses with a website are on the rise. With numbers reaching 80%, you cannot afford to NOT have a website, because chances are your competition already has a website.

To have a website that gains the most business, you must have the best, most up to date website possible. If a visitor feels that you do not properly maintain and update you website, then chances are they will leave and find a similar business that does. Make sure you update your content on a consistent basis.
A JavaScript pop up is a notification window that opens when you visit a website that presents a message or advertisement and has an "ok" button at the end. This was extremely popular during the website boom, but quickly become a no-no, mainly because people over used it. Not only would they add the pop up to the main page of their website, but they would also add one to each and every sub page. Typically these pop ups did not contain any information that would be viewed as important to the viewer. This was annoying then, and is much more annoying now. If you have a message that MUST display to the user before they can go further on your website, then a JavaScript pop up may still be a good option, but I strongly caution you to not overuse it, if you use it at all.
You have to remember that a percentage of your visitors will be on a dialup connection, which means they will have trouble downloading your website if you have a large number of graphics on your website. Unless your website is in flash, I would try to avoid using any type of animated graphic, since they typically have large file sizes. Remember: people are not looking for fancy graphics, they are looking for information.
This was another thing that was popular during the internet boom that quickly become unpopular due to overuse. It was once believed that high contrasting colors would grab the users attention. While this may be true, I do not recommend using this technique. People are looking for information. Use of high contrasting colors cheapens the look of your website and makes it very unprofessional.
If your website seems be cluttered, visitors will be less likely to view further into your website, especially if they think they will have to weed out the information they need from the information that is useless to them. You do not want to have too much information on each page, and you never want more then one topic on each page. A good navigation system will eliminate any problem you have.
Many websites created during the internet boom lacked one of the most important parts of a website: a navigation menu. Once a visitor clicked on a page they were taken to a new page without a way to return or access additional pages within the website. A navigation menu ensures that the visitor will be able to view your entire website. A good navigation menu will take the visitor back to the page that they originally come from, to the main page, and to the other major parts of the website. Additionally, the navigation menu should have links to things such as website polices, term and conditions, and a site map.
This is a fairly new problem with websites, especially since Google started their Adsense program. Many websites have more ads than information on the page. A visitor does not want to have to weed though the ads to find the content that they are looking for. Studies have shown that a visitor is more likely to click on an advertisement link if they do not feel that they are being bombarded by them. This is definitely a situation where the saying "less is more" is true.
This is one of my pet peeves. Unless I am expecting it to happen, I detest going to a web page that bombards me with an audio message as soon as the page loads. When that happens, I usually just close the page immediately without even reading what it has to say. You can bet that many other people feel the same way. Don't use an audio message that plays immediately unless the visitor is expecting it. At least, provide a link to play the audio and describe it so that, if interested, the visitor can press the Play button to hear it.
